Keep kids safe this Halloween

As Halloween approaches, it is wise for parents to sit down with their kids and discuss safety when trick-or-treating.
Here are some tips make sure your little goblins have a fun, safe Halloween:
Supervise
Trick-or-treaters should never go out alone. There should always be at least one adult with them. This will help avoid threats to children’s safety, and allows the adult to keep an eye out for traffic and other pitfalls.
Costume selection:
Make sure that costumes are kid-friendly. Children should be able to see clearly through masks and should be able to walk without tripping on the hem of too-long skirts or pants.
Keep it light
Make sure kids can be seen while walking the neighborhood. Flashlights and light sticks are a great way to make sure others can see little trick-or-treaters.
Choose your route
Where available, always walk on sidewalks, crosswalks and well-lit areas. Make sure to coach the trick-or-treater to be aware of vehicles moving, not only on the street, but in driveways as well.
Safety back home
Adults should always look through childrens’ trick-or-treat haul in order to make sure all candy is safe. Candy that is not wrapped should be discarded.
Most of all, let the kids have a fun, happy Halloween!
