MOST announces winners of competition


The Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science & Technology (MOST) is proud to announce the winners of the 200 Build’em and Bust’em Bridge Building Competition. Over 200 teams competed in this year’s competition.
The competition is divided into three categories. Category I is  for grades 4, 5, and 6. Category II is grade 7 and 8 and Category III is grade 9, 10, 11 and 12. First through Fourth Place was awarded in each category as well as Best Design for Bridge and Crane. The Crane portion of the competition is only for Category III.
Winners (in order of first through fourth place and best bridge design) were:
Category I - Madeline Shuron, Annika Bergquist and Izzi Zoanetti West Genesee Middle School sixth graders; Christian Zook and Brendan McGinn, Tully Elementary School sixth graders; Mark Dellefave and Kyle Bunch Camillus Middle School sixth graders; Justin Pellgrino, Ava Breitbauch and Nathan Scallatta, Lakeshore Road Elementary School fourth graders; and Madeline Shuron, Annika Bergquist and Izzi Zoanetti, West Genesee Middle School sixth graders.
Category II - Logan Miner, grade 8, and Grant Searles, grade 7, home schooled;  Robert Woodruff , grade 7, Connor Smith, grade 8, and Augustine Leavitt, grade 7, home schooled; Amanda McGregor and Michelle Huffaker, homes chooled seventh graders; Alexandria Koreniowski, Ashley McGrath and Jordan Roach, Onondaga Hill Middle School eighth graders; and Caleb Duncan, grade 8, Ethan Duncan, grade 7, and Jordan Dowdy, grade 8, Lincoln Middle School.
Category III - Chelsea Parks, grade 12, James Bruska, grade 8, and Alessandro Carno, grade 8, Christian Brothers Academy; Emily Herbst, grade 12, Seth Adams, grade 10, and Tyler Latulipe, grade 9, Camden Senior High School; Eric Pitzeruse and Matt Rachubka, West Genesee Senior High School 12th graders; Robert Pfingsen, John Bonami, and Justin Farnett, Christian Brothers Academy 12th graders; Tho Le, grade 11, Kim Pham, grade 10, and Tuyey Lu, grade 10, George Fowler High School; Sarah Schreiber, grade 11, Fauth Schreiber, grade 8, and Jess Turner, grade 8, home schooled.
Strongest Crane – Jason Ceresoli and Robert Carpenter, Chittenango High School 11th graders.
Structural Support for the Build’em and Bust’em Bridge Building Competition is provided by the MOST and the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University.
