Grants available for artist-school partnerships in CNY Posted on Fri, November 6th, 2009 Written by: , email:
Are you a teacher looking to bring the arts into your classroom? Are you a visual or performing artist who wants to share your art-making with children? Are you part of a cultural organization that wants to collaborate more deeply with schools? Arts-in-education art$TART grants are available to fund projects in Central New York schools that use the arts to support all subject areas by developing partnerships with community artists and/or cultural organizations. In granted partnerships, teachers and artists work together to plan and teach toward New York State arts and non-arts standards. All pre-K – 12 public and private schools in nine CNY counties (Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Onondaga, Oswego, and St. Lawrence) are eligible for grants for up to $3000. Cultural organizations, artists, or schools can initiate the granting process. The next orientation for the grant, which will explain the grant process, offer help with the application, and present successful partnerships from last year, will be at Morgan Road Elementary in Liverpool on Tuesday, October 20, 3:30 – 5:00 pm. The grant application is available online at www.arts4ed.org. You can also find information about the grant process, and descriptions of all the previously granted partnerships. The grants are administered by Partners for Arts Education (PAE), and funded by the New York State Council on the Arts. The deadline for applications is November 13. For information, visit the PAE website at arts4ed.org, or call Sue at 234-9911.
